Dragon Ball Z Kinect-ing this October

Namco Bandai are bringing a new motion-controlled fighting game to Xbox 360 later this year with 50 playable characters, 100 moves; One Piece: Pirate Warriors heading West.

Namco Bandai’s famous fighting franchise Dragon Ball Z is dropping the controller altogether for its next outing. The publisher today announced that it is working on a Dragon Ball Z game for Microsoft’s gesture-recognition technology Kinect.

Developed by Spike Chunsoft Co. Ltd and set to debut this October, Dragon Ball Z for the Kinect will boast more than 50 playable characters capable of commanding more than 100 unique moves. The game will take place in a first-person perspective, and players can choose to partake in the game’s Story and Score Attack modes.

Gamers can unlock new characters and power-ups for the new Dragon Ball Z game through the Kinect via quick reference (QR) codes, though specific details were not mentioned.

Namco Bandai also today confirmed that One Piece: Pirate Warriors (known as
One Piece: Kaizoku Musou in Japan) is headed West. The game will arrive sometime in 2012 for the PlayStation 3.
