The Smurfs 2 is a platformer based on the forthcoming movie. With a release date set for July, it will coincide with the release of the film, a sequel to the hugely successful 2011 movie. You play as a Smurf, travelling from the Smurf Village to New York, Paris, the Arctic Tundra and a Lava Jungle.
In support of July movie “The Smurfs 2,” a video game for 360, PS3, Wii and Wii U will take players from New York to Paris via the Arctic Tundra, Laval Jungle, and Smurfs’ Village.
Handling development duties is WayForward, developer of well-received “Aliens Infestation,” “Mighty Switch Force!” and “Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage” — so, a crew reasonably well versed in producing slick, licensed games in the sort of side-on style that “The Smurfs 2″ exhibits.
There’ll also be a different game with the same title for the Nintendo DS, a collection of mini-games presented within an interactive story book.
July 23 has been earmarked as the North American release date, a week before “The Smurfs 2″ hits cinemas, with a European street date for the game to be confirmed.
