The Living Story that player’s have been a part of for over a year in Guild Wars 2 begins to come to a close with ‘Origins of Madness’! We’ve fought the Molten Alliance, the Aetherblades, and even Queen Jennah’s own Watchknights in the Guild Wars 2 living story, and all because Scarlet Briar seems to want to see the world burn.

What we haven’t figured out before now, is why. What is it that drives this woman to these acts, and what are her ultimate plans for Tyria.

On January 21st the Origins of Madness update is coming to Guild Wars 2, and with it the final chapters of the Living Story which we have been participating in will begin. Will we finally come to know what it is that Scarlet saw in the eternal alchemy, and is that why she seemingly seeks to destroy all of Tyria? Or is she simply just mad?

Whatever the case, regardless of her end goals, Scarlet is soon to unleash more devastation on the world as a brand-new mechanical monstrosity makes its debut in Origins of Madness. In the official teaser trailer we see the Twisted Marionette, a gigantic robotic monstrosity of mass destruction.

But that’s not the only new menace coming to Guild Wars 2 in the Origins of Madness update. The Great Jungle Wurm has been unearthed in the Bloodtide Coast, and it’s angry. The huge creature is so powerful that only an army of players can challenge it. Will you be among those brave enough to try?
