Check out the announcement trailer for Prodigy. Jean Bey, veteran figurine modeller and tabletop game designer, is returning to game development with a new tactical role-playing game called Prodigy, French indie developer Hanakai Studios announced.
Prodigy will combine “high-quality figurines” and video games to tell its story, set in a fantasy universe that Hanakai says will allow players to “interact with the genre in a new and interesting way.” Currently the only details on the game come from the teaser trailer posted above. The video shows both figurines and cards being set on a table and footage of two characters fighting that appears to have been pulled from a video game.
More details on Prodigy will be made available in the coming months.
Bey worked at tabletop and miniature figurine games developer Games Workshop, the studio behind the Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 games, before founding Rackham in 2009. As CEO and creative director he worked on Confrontation, a tactical wargame that utilized small metal figurines. Rackham was renamed Rackham Entertinment in 2008 before being completely dissolved in 2010. Bey has since joined Paris-based Hanakai Studio, where he is also CEO and creative director.
