Deadlight Teaser Trailer

Posted on Jan 20, 2012 01:29:00 AM

In an apocalyptic world where there is no reason to exist, a man crosses the American west coast. Surviving is much more than a daily routine in this original cinematic puzzle platformer. Deadlight is to be released as an XBLA exclusive title in summer 2012.

Tequila Works, based in Madrid was founded in September 2009 by Raúl Rubio Munárriz and Luz Sancho Rodríguez. The team comprises veterans in the entertainment industry, with an impressive track record in the development of games such as the Commandos and Motorstorm series, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Diablo III, Heavy Rain, and Overlord II.

In announcing the publishing deal, Raúl Rubio, CEO and Creative Director at Tequila Works stated, “our philosophy is to create tasteful things. Our team integrates highly experienced people who still keep the ability to see the world with amazement every day, and enjoy challenging their creative talents”.

“Being published by Microsoft Studios, one of the world’s largest publishers, is a true reward for all the team hard work. The opportunity to work with first-party publisher Microsoft Studios is a dream come true, and shows their commitment in the talent of small independent studios.”

Luz Sancho, Chairwoman, added: “Since our first conversations, Microsoft Studios understood Tequila Works spirit and our attention to detail. They believe in us and the way we create”. “XBLA is the perfect platform for unique AAA bets with a character of their own. We want to create something truly special for Xbox 360″, remarked Raúl Rubio.

Revolutionary Tower Defense – Unstoppable Gorg

Posted on Jan 19, 2012 12:37:53 AM

A revolutionary tower defense gameplay trailer for the Unstoppable Gorg.

Futuremark has unveiled Unstoppable Gorg gameplay footage for the first time. Any good? It’s fair to say it puts a spin on classic tower defense gameplay…

Futuremark, makers of the world’s favourite 3D benchmarking software, 3D Marks, have unveiled the first gameplay footage of their forthcoming tower defence game, Unstoppable Gorg, labelling it ‘revolutionary’.

Putting a twist on the classic ‘fixed tower’ approach to the genre, Unstoppable Gorg introduces the ability to twist and spin tower locations on an orbital path. The retro 1950?s B-movie themed puzzler is a far cry from Futuremark’s first foray into PC gaming, Shattered Horizon, a graphically demanding zero-G first person shooter.

Today’s Greatest Thing Ever: Elevator Source

Posted on Jan 17, 2012 04:10:02 PM

Elevators, or as we Brits call them, dangleboxes, get a fair showing in gaming. Very few FPS titles will let you reach their final bossmonster without having had at least one go on the world’s slowest ride, giving you a moment’s pause, before they inevitably shudder to a halt as you’re ripped out of the side of the building by something with more tentacles than manners. But until now (to my knowledge at least, inevitable person who knows of a game on the Amiga) they’ve yet to receive a game dedicated just to them. And that’s what we have in the Half-Life 2 mod, Elevator: Source. YES.

Created by the undeniable geniuses at Pixeltail Games, Elevator: Source is a no-holds-barred elevator simulator, that requires Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and Garry’s Mod be installed on your machine. And I really suggest you do.

Assassin’s Creed Dubstep Party

Posted on Jan 17, 2012 01:55:04 AM

Ezio goes out for a night on the town and things get a bit messy. Warning: contains flashing images.

In Assassin’s Creed Revelations, you will control master assassin Ezio Auditore, who walks in the footsteps of the legendary mentor Altair, on a journey of discovery and revelation. But there’s always time for some r&r – Watch as the civilians of Constantinople get crunk and bust a move. This looks almost as fun as the Hyphy dances and going dummy. Take a look.

Minecraft Updated to v1.1 (Real Sheep! Better Bows!)

Posted on Jan 16, 2012 07:49:40 PM

Those of you who still play Minecraft, the game’s been updated to v1.1. What’s new? All kinds of stuff, which may or may not be really important depending on what language you speak and how you feel about sheep.

The biggest improvements are probably the extra language support for Europeans, enhanced bows, reduced brewing times and sheep that actually re-grow their wool. Oh, and that annoying little wireframe around ladders, that’s gone too.

You can see the complete list of changes in the mildly-annoying video above.

Binary Domain

Posted on Jan 12, 2012 01:37:28 AM

Sega’s new squad-based shooter from Toshihiro Nagoshi moved from Valentine’s Day debut to end of the month. Sega’s squad-based shooter Binary Domain was originally scheduled to arrive on Valentine’s Day, but the game and its release date have split up.

A new trailer for Binary Domain reveals that the game is now scheduled to arrive on February 28 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America. No mention was made of a European release date, and as of press time, Sega had not responded to GameSpot’s request for comment.

Binary Domain is set in Tokyo in the year 2080, a time when humans are locked in battle with robots. In the game, players take control of a human peacekeeping team set on regaining control of the city. However, as the peacekeepers continue their fight against the robots, they begin to ponder whether or not they are becoming robotic or robots are becoming human. The game is the latest project from Toshihiro Nagoshi, who is best known for his work on the Yakuza and Super Monkey Ball franchises.
