Aliens Vs Marine Is AVP In CryEngine 3

Posted on Nov 9, 2012 06:56:22 PM

Colonial Marines isn’t due until February and that’s a long wait for the next attempt to capture the horror of man versus the ultimate murderer. The best parts of Rebellion’s first (and the best) AvP game are the marine levels, at least in single player. Horror games often take away weapons or severely limit ammunition in order to increase tension, but even if you’re armed to the teeth, aliens are deadly and terrifying.

Far Cry 3′s Jason Brody Punches A Shark

Posted on Nov 8, 2012 07:47:36 PM

Admittedly, Jason does other things in Far Cry 3‘s new story trailer aside from punching a shark. But really, is there any tale more gripping or universal than that of one dude, one shark, and one fist?

DINOSAUR ALERT: Battlefield 3 Aftermath’s ‘Epicenter’

Posted on Nov 7, 2012 06:06:17 PM

Well, this is a bit unexpected. Not the fact that more Battlefield 3 maps are on the way. Those will apparently be hewn from the Earth and flung at the microtransaction-loving masses until the end of time. But this new look at BF3: Aftermath’s earthquake-pancaked Epicenter map is oddly serene.

StarForge Falls Out Of Sky, Lands On IndieGoGo

Posted on Nov 6, 2012 10:00:50 AM

We’ve mentioned the astonishingly ambitious sci-fi combat and building game StarForge before, but now it requires a special nod, because the team behind it are trying to raise some money. Based on the extraordinary range of things they’ve already achieved – take a look at the video below for an illustration of that – I would say these are gents who deserve an even break.

Crime And Pun-ishment: First Person Shouter

Posted on Nov 5, 2012 10:00:49 AM

Often to my own detriment, I am wildly intrigued by things that confuse and frighten me. True story: this kind of thinking resulted in me being chased across a gorgeous Japanese  park by a herd of enraged deer. It’s with a similar mentality that I bring you word of First Person Shouter.

And Now You Can Buy Pid

Posted on Nov 2, 2012 10:00:44 AM

I completely forgot about Might And Delight’s Pid. Last December I saw the first trailer, and my thoughts turned to goshes. Time then went past at a quite inconsiderate rate, and it’s out today. Crikey. And oddly enough, it’s still looking incredibly lovely. I’m going to get my hands on it straight away.

Trick Or Retreat: Outlast Mixes Scares, Mirror’s Edge

Posted on Nov 1, 2012 05:46:53 PM

Alright now, everyone, gather ’round. I’m going to tell you a ghost story. One especially spooooooooky sunlit morning, we brought you word of Outlast, a PC-only survival-horror scare-a-thon from a group of folks who worked on Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, Assassin’s Creed, and Uncharted. The attached 50-second snippet of footage seemed to hold promise, but tickled fancies more than it did scarybones.

Bioshock Infinite And The Beast of America

Posted on Oct 31, 2012 10:00:38 AM

Bioshock Infinite has seen a few high-profile members of the team leave of late, but that doesn’t seem to have caused it to waver from its February 26th release date. The latest trailer shows off happenings of light and fury, with lots of combat. The skyline, Elizabeth, and the Handyman baddy feature heavily. If the original Bioshock was a colourful and visually offbeat shooter, then we’ll need to dust off rarely used 19th-century adjectives for this one. Go take a look.

Mighty Morphine: Painkiller – Hell And Damnation

Posted on Oct 30, 2012 10:00:38 AM

‘Hell and Damnation’ is the kind of exclamation that I imagine might escape the rarely unpursed lips of a country vicar as he stubs his toe on the rector’s boot-scraper when arriving for afternoon tea. Tacked on the end of Painkiller’s colon, it’s probably not intended to sound as quaint as all that but rather to convey the gurgling, catarrh-trembling roar of a heavy metalist. John has already played the opening levels of this remake of the original kill ‘em up, which comes out on Halloween.
