Surely that’s the driving mandate behind Parallax. I can’t think of any other mindset – if, indeed, the otherworldly creatures that produced this thing even adhere to our primitive concept of “mind” – that’d bring us to this point.

Deep Silver put out a trailer announcing Saints Row IV (that’s FOUR to you people who can’t read Roman) yesterday! It launches on 20th August 2013 in the US and 23rd August 2013 in the boring parts of the world. Me and Ye Olde Man Gillen had a look at it with a cynical eye, KG’s cat gently humping him on the leg throughout.

There’s dedication & there’s dedication. The second, slantier version means there’s been a bit more effort being put in. Let’s use Quake as an example: it’s the difference between someone still making Quake levels all these years later & someone who has built a Quake editor for modern sensibilities, making it all wizzy. If you haven’t finished Dead Space 3, plan to, and care about the story as well as the severance, beware. Somewhere in the back of my space-scarred and delirious mind, I knew that there was some DLC for Dead Space 3 in the pipeline.

One of my first experiences inside Castle Shotgun ended with a heartfelt lament. The Call of Juarez sounded bitterly in my ears. I haven’t played Gunslinger yet and while it doesn’t quite look like a return to form, it does seem potentially entertaining, with its arcade, score-based take on rooting, tooting and indeed shooting.

Here’s a clever idea: instead of paying £30 for a game, or getting it for free then buying lots of little extra bits, or helping to fund it pre-release, what about paying what you want for it? For instance, as part of a bundle of other games? Next big thing, you mark my words.

Assassin’s Creed IV has pirates, a subtitle, a release date and a trailer. The pirates caught me unawares when the internet accidentally started yo-ho-hoing about them last week and the subtitle was unexpected too, but the release date of October 29th should surprise nobody.
